Girls Night Out offers support to girls with autism

The WVU Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic will offer a new social and self-care skills program this summer for girls ages 14-18 with autism and related developmental disabilities.

The program incorporates evidence-based strategies to teach and practice skills within natural community settings, providing opportunities to meet new people, engage in meaningful connections, improve conversational skills and celebrate individuality.

Participants will meet every Thursday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. from September 5 through November 21 in the Greater Morgantown Area.

Cost is $300 and scholarship assistance will be available for those who qualify.

Girls ages 14-18 without autism spectrum disorders are needed as volunteers to engage in activities and provide peer support.
